· there are around 9 million people annually migrating within the country
· There is a trend of accelerating migration
· Language does not seem to be the barrier
As per NSSO 3 out of 10 people in India are Internal Migrants

· Could not get benefits of the welfare schemes- ex- 45% of total migrants excluded from PDS, Financial inclusion
· Interstate migrant worker Act obsolete and hardly enforced
· Lack of credible data on seasonal migration- which poses serious constraint
· Unable to participate in formal election process
